MA Psychology Delhi University Admission Details

Finally finished with your Final exams? Post-graduation admissions on your mind? On 3rd June, Delhi University released applications for their Master’s courses in Psychology. DU is one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in India. It offers 2 year courses in MA Psychology and MA Applied Psychology, consisting of four semesters. The course includes fieldwork, practical’s, and papers of your choosing out of up to 15 options each semester. The North Campus offers M.A. Psychology with a capacity of 108 students in each batch while South Campus offers M.A. in Applied Psychology with about 40 seats.

The process of application along with fees payment is entirely online for all categories and courses through a link found on their website, www.du.ac.in. But remember that you have to apply for each course you want to, separately.

There are two ways to apply for the course of your choosing, whether it be MA. Applied Psychology or M.A. Psychology- Through an entrance test or merit based admission. For both campuses 50% of these seats are given to merit based admitted students and the other half are for the entrance test based admitted.

For the entrance test, you require either a minimum of 55% aggregate in a BA psychology course of DU or a 60% in any graduate course in any DU or DU recognised college. This provides an opportunity for all those students who have not studied psychology in their graduation. This entrance exam, organised by NTA, consists of a 100 multiple choice Questions with a maximum of 400 marks that can be achieved along with negative marking of -1. This exam is likely to happen between June 22nd and July 2nd.  After this, based on your performance, you will be called for an interview which is usually held in the first week of July.

The second way you can apply for the course is merit based. This will be based on the aggregate marks BA psychology or applied psychology course. The minimum eligibility criteria is a 60% aggregate in a BA course of Psychology course from DU. This is a part of direct admission and therefore doesn’t involve an interview.

But keep in mind that you can apply for the course in both or either category. Apart from this, I’m sure you might have many specific question regarding your cases, preferences, advice and so on as well. Keeping this in mind, DU holds Open Houses in North campus Conference Centre as well as south campus colleges from 30th May to 10th June. A Help Desk is also present in North Campus every afternoon to guide you and answer all your questions.
